      Hello,
I’m currently running Pro v7.1.6860, a client sent me a few dwg files that won’t completely translate. There is a list of ignored entities (I’m guessing some xref or xblock that wasn’t exploded)?
I can view them in Acad viewer 2010.
I also tried converting them to 2007, 2004, 200 (with viewer2010), then importing into SU, no luck.

Are the translators any better in 8.2?

I found a workaround: converting (with viewer2010) to 2004 format, importing into another cad package I use, exporting as dwg, importing into SU 7.1.

      Any other ideas?
      Thanks,
      Glenn

          Hello Gaieus,
Thanks for the reply, I was thinking about downloading the trial version of SU8, to test the dwg import.
Then deciding if it is worth $95 upgrade.
If I do that, I'll post results for the import.
          Glenn

It's impossible to say what is happening with your DWG file contents without taking a look inside the file(s) themselves. One common error is that a file contains objects that were produced in an add-on, like the walls and other construction objects created with AutoCad Architecture (previously called Architectural Desktop). These must be converted into standard AutoCad 3D geometry in the originating application before importing them into SketchUp.

When importing, SU also ignores entities that do not form geometry, like text and dimensions, imported images and hatches.

SU version 7 cannot read the latest (2010) DWG file format.
