Colors in Model
-
Open up a new file > delete the person object > save the completely empty file. Open colour picker and click the home button to check the colors in my model. It shows 8 colours but there is nothing at all in the model ?
On Mac OSX Lion with Pro 8 (8.0.4810).
Am I correct by thinking that there should be no colors in the model ?
thanks

Hi Steve,
When you delete a component in your scene, it will still remain in your model. Also, when you delete everything in your model, all compoennts and all their materials are still there. Go to Window > Components and in the dialog, to your "In model" library. Susan is still there. On the right, there is a blue arrow which triggers a menu. There you can select "Purge unused". This will delete all unused components from your model (here only Susan).
After this, you can do the same with your material browser. Purge unused... The same can be applied in the Layer and Styles dialogs, too. Or ultimately, go to Window > model info > statistics and at the bottom, you can purge all four categories by simply pressing the purge button. Do this regularly - especially if you are experimenting with imported components and lots of materials and styles in your model otherwise file size can grow fast.

Thank you Gaieus.
That works great and makes sense now, especially purging unsued objects and I noticed a huge slowdown last night whilst playing around with materials so this would be why.
thank you again
