Good summarizing statement at the bottom of the article:

“Apple has historically been a computer company driven by an interest to provide a platform for content creation,” Reshef continued. “However, Apple has a [recent] history of simplifying and eliminating products that were a drain on its resources. The enterprise products are likely a resource drain they'd prefer to allocate towards more profitable pursuits, even if it means damaging their own ecosystem and abandoning some of the content creators in the process.”

However if I (or this writer) could second-guess Apple, I'd be at least a little richer and smarter than I appear to be. 😐

this has been a rumor for quite a few years (though probably a bit more than a rumor)

I hope when the day comes, there will be some sort of stackable Mac mini setup so you can still sort of have a box for multiple HDs.. + options for powerful graphics/CPUs etc.

I doubt apple will fully ignore their pro users.. but, getting away from a tower=pro mindset might not be a bad thing at all. we'll see.
