Hi there, I use sketchup on a daily basis in my work to sketch out buildings and get areas of walls and windows etc. Basically I draw out a floor plan in 3d with no ceilings. Then I have to click on every wall, internal and external and type its area and the direction it is facing (eg South East)into an excel spreadsheet. So it is quite time consuming. I'm just wondering if it would be possible to have some sort of program whereby, when I click on each wall I can hit a "hot key" or something and the area and direction the wall is facing will be pasted into the spreadsheet. Then I click on the next wall and hit the hot key and its area and direction are copied on the next line of the spreadsheet and so on.

I dont know anything about programming so I just thought I'd ask you guys if this is even possible. Like I dont even know if there is a method by which you could tell the direction a wall is facing just by clicking on it. Like maybe a reference to North could be set on each drawing or something.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There has already been some discussion about this type of thing - search these forums for orientation, area, face, etc... e.g. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=306256#p306256

@byrnebm: Did the plugin TIG suggested work for you? If not I might be able to write something up for you to brush up on my ruby skills. Let me know.
