Glue

A long time ago (40 years) we made bass wood models with "airplane" glue. Fast drying and relatively clear.
Not available now. Can anyone recommend a replacement

If you are in the USA, Testor's glues appear to be still available. http://www.testors.com I saw a separate selection of non-toxic plastic cement as well as super glue(cyanoacrylate and accelerator) Further, the site has MSDS sheets that can be downloaded to verify safety. I also saw an International tab on the page.

Epoxy would work although not as fast drying. Buy it in bottles and mix it as you need it. PVA glues (Titebond is a common brand in the US) are also good. Probably a little faster drying but not gap filling. Both are very strong. Actually stronger than the wood even if the wood is strong like oak or maple.
I'd forgotten about Testor's I remember the smell of their plastic cement from when I was a kind.
Looks like they offer a wood cement that is fast drying.

Testors is the one that I remember. I'm in Toronto and just sent a message to them to see if they will ship to Canada.

We used to use Humbrol. Great memories! Still available I believe, at least in the UK.
