Table I built
-
It wasn't built in the traditional ways and probably won't last a 100 years but my daughter and I had a blast building it. All the screws in the table top were because I didn't have clamps big enough and were taken out after the glue dried for the top.
-
Nice work on the table. It cool that you got to work with your daughter on it, too.
Your model looks pretty good, too but we gotta train you to fix those reversed faces.
-
Thanks Dave and yeah I found where I had some of the faces reversed. Messing with the material trying to get a good render now. This is what I have so far.
-
Good start on that. Put some walls in to reflect some light back into the table. What renderer are you using?
The pine looks pretty good. I'm glad to see the knots aren't repeated on the top.
Did you buy the legs or turn them yourself?
-
Great to see a project go from CAD to built.
-
I just bought a lay but the legs were also bought, I caught a deal on them and couldn't refuse. I'm not about to try and turn something like that yet!In school so long ago I was able to make a bad and a bowl but nothing like a table leg. I'm using V-ray to render everything.I took your suggestions and made a little room then rendered it.The choice of floor was kinda bad but my primary focus was on the table itself so I think it looks a little better, nothing like some I've seen here though! Also thanks Slimdog, I try to use SU on everything I build in some shape or form!
-
I keep looking at lathes thinking I should buy one but there's no room in my shop right now for one. Besides, I want to figure out how to make enough room so I can build another boat and adding another power tool won't help.
The render does look better now with the walls and floor.

Dave R,
Oh, get the lathe. Delta makes a very nice midi lathe. Decent horsepower, good swing, won't take up much more room than a planer. Runs about $600. But believe me, I know all about cramped shops.

Hi David,
I know it's not much money and a midi wouldn't take up a lot of space but then there's all the tuning stock and the tools. My dream is to someday have a lathe big enough to use as a spar lathe. My shop isn't long enough for that at the moment.
