I have a complex model that i would like to cut in half, but it is composed of many groups and components. Can the section tool make a permanent cut to the model, eracing the invisible half? The split function only works with individual solids.

For now the only way I've been able to do this is to explode the entire model (with some unwanted results), intersecting the model with a box shape, then manually eracing the unwanted half. In some cases, exploding the model makes it to hard for my computer to manage the model.

      Any suggestions or ideas?

        Hi Ben (and welcome).

The Zorro 2 plugin will become part of a section plane's context menu. Place your section plane as usually then right click and "slice at section". This will literally cut through everything (even nested groups/components - making a bunch of unique ones of the latter) and delete the invisible part.

Since it does delete the invisible part, always work on a backup copy of your original.

What exactly do you need this for?

Can you attach an example model? I have use it on models of quite extreme complexity (with several level deeply nested components) with no issues - true however that I have heard of crashes from others...
