Well, first I tried from Firefox.
Now I dug up my IE as well and it indeed installs there just fine. Nice, πŸ‘
Will it be possible to have it on other browsers too?

      In time, yes.

Also, I tried to navigate a bit - for me, something more like a walkthrough would be much better (sorry if I sound like constantly complaining and whining but I have been very enthusiastic since I first heard about this web player)

Sure, but isn't that what SketchUp has Scenes for? πŸ˜•

SU yes but not an interactive thing on the web.

Anyway, I will play around (as I now have LightUp anyway) and will whine enough, be warned!

OK, pop quiz. What famous film is the LightUp test scene based on?

πŸ‘ Didn't work in Firefox but after dusting IE it worked fine.

May I suggest a more Doom-like navigation scheme? I mean,
              left/right arrows > turn left/right

It uses keys WASD to move around, the mouse to look around, the mousewheel to zoom.. short of throwing in some zombies, I can't think how much more Doom-like the controls could be. πŸ˜‰

I've added a Mozilla / Firefox version of the LightUp WebPlayer. So now we have:

                      • Windows IExplorer
                      • Mac Safari
                      • Windows Firefox 3.6 / 4.0

It is packaged (as they all are) as a digitally signed Firefox .XPI installer, so Firefox should install it automatically after getting your permission.

Any problems, questions you ping here or at the LightUp forum.

                      Adam

Installed, restarted, but no model. Just the control buttons.

                        Firefox 4, Win7 64bit.

OK, perhaps it takes some time to download the .luca file.. Does your Add-Ons menu show the LightUp plugin installed?

If you point your FF browser at a small .luca file (eg http://light-up.co.uk/resources/webplayer/blocks.luca) you should get a fullsized window of the model.

                          And thanks for the feedback,

Firefox looks fine in the Addon list - looks to be installed properly.
Just tried the browser test page in Internet Explorer and it installed and loaded the models very quickly. So something must be bust with Firefox.

Please can you try and install it again (the rev has been bumped so FF might pick that up else uninstall the previous version).

Installed fine on FF 3.6 here. Had to restart the browser and I can see all three models on that page.
Very cool, thanks for this, Adam! πŸ‘

Currently I am mostly interested in something like on the right - a walkthrough solution of a model I am building about a museum for kids. Could there be collision detection built in to the file? Also, how about climbing on stairs? (I should try, I know...)

One note: the model on the left seems to be very sluggishly navigable. And the model in the middle is rotating around something behind me. Is that because o the model origin?

(The one on the right is very cool).

Could there be also a control to go full-screen?

Never mind. I discovered that if I load the luca file directly into the browser, it can be viewed full-screen. Sweet! πŸ‘

Adam, Firefox crashed on me twice today - true that I had two tabs open with the plugin This one (with 3 instancing of the embedded player running) and this one.

Otherwise works fine - maybe this was too much for my poor machine already.

The .luca file captures everything you've set up in SketchUp/LightUp. I wanted to give the content creator total control, so if the camera motion has been setup to be slow, it will be slow also in the viewer, if you've enabled Collision in Sketchup, you'll get collision in the viewers, if you've enabled gravity in Sketchup.. etc etc.

Just FYI: If you hold SHIFT down, you should move 5x the speed which is handy for getting around large models.

Also the plugin is totally controllable from Javascript, so I need to post an example showing jumping from the Scene to Scene.

Yes, 2.4.1 is the latest. I wonder whether your workplace has some security stopping this plugin running - in that it works fine for you at home.
If you point your browser at a luca file (ie use a file:// URL), do you get any messages?

Anyway, I appreciate the feedback guys.
