O.K. So I am trying to model a curved pathway that I want to apply a paver texture to. I model a straight path and bend it with Chris Fullmer's wonderful Shape Bender plugin. πŸ‘ But of course when I apply the texture, it does not bend with the curve of the path. Is there a way to accomplish this in SketchUp or would this require UV mapping? πŸ˜• Are there any other workarounds I could try?

Here's a few examples to give you an idea of what I want to create.

      Curved path 1.

      Curved path 2.

      Curved path 3.

        Hi John,

If you are bending the path afterwards, you can use this tutorial I wrote about texturing arches:

Thanks Csaba. I was thinking about your tutorial.

So would this work with Shape Bender if I apply the texture and subdivide before I bend? And would it also work with bump maps when I render it?

The point at this state of the plugin is that you need to have the exact same amount of faces before you start the bending operation as when you finish it. The plugin can only "remember" UV co-ordinates on existing faces. This is why subdivision is needed before.

You can use Shape Bender but I used FredoScale - all the same; the resulting shape will be bent.

You can even give Tgi3D SU Amorph a shot. That can also restore UV co-ordinates (in fact, once it worked on a model where TT's UV Toolkit failed - but TT's plugin is admittedly a WIP one for the time being...)
