Downloading to keep in my back pocket. Just read a blurb in Gizmodo or similar where they called this s "Sketchup Killer". After having played with it some more - I think that's just talk. While poly count may be better, overall tools and functionality don't keep up to the variety available in SU.

I have been looking for a 'Sketchup Killer' ever since Google bought out @last, nothing yet has come close I'm afraid. I have however found many apps that contribute to my work-flow, but nothing that replaces it.

yes, it has some very nice features sketchup is missing... interesting development. I have to test it...
Very sad that the sketchup core modeling tools and functions are almost on the same level as in sketchup 4... no real improvements on this part within the last 5 years...

I tried 123D Catch to create 3D objects from a set of photos. It worked great on a difficult example (an elephant sculpture) and bombed on a simple geometric cube. I feel it might be my workflow is incorrect or their interface sucks. When time allows I want to revisit it and sort out the blame.

I gave it a try, it's a typical stiff and edgy AutoDesk application and not so nice flowing as Sketchup. They may have some nice features, but it's 2.5 D working on planes. I still prefer Sketchup spiced up with Some really good plug - ins.
My first impression was that like in other AutoDesk applications you have to focus on how to do it rather then just let the creative energy flow.
