Nothing fancy; that can be done in other apps...and not everyone needs it. Everyone does need this...even if they are only producing content for Google Earth, or modelling soda cans. It would enable someone to start with a single image of an office window, for instance, and accurately tile it across the entire face of a building, or around a curved facade.
Images could be tiled exactly around cylinders instead of trying to work out the required length of the image from the radius of the cylinder. Yes there's a Ruby to do that now...but it does it precisely once. Supposing you want it tiled? Three basic modes; planar, cylindrical and spherical.
Offset controls aren't necessary,as we already have Texture > Position. But rotation controls would be nice...so you could specify a precise angle. The current texture rotate tool is pretty sucky. It's virtually impossible to use without either rescaling or skewing the texture to hell and beyond.

I certainly dream of more than this, but this would be a great step in the right direction. The current UV tools available through ruby do me no good for just the reason you mention. When I want to wrap a stucco material around a column it scales way too large with no means of tiling it as you mention. Creating a custom material for such things is too much of a bother for me and clutters things up.
