Hey guys, I 'm having a bit of a problem with the plots I am getting from lay-out. My sketch-up model appears pretty hi-res on the screen, but when I plot it, the lines are jumpy and pixilated, Is there a way of turning up the resolution in a lay-out file?

      thanks!

        Hi Jeff,

What rendering mode and output quality are you using?

I am having the same problem and I don't think I used to have this problem with the previous release of SketchUp/Layout. When I save to pdf, straight lines have mysterious discontinuities - little jagged sections - for no apparent reason. Would be interested to hear if anyone has any solutions to this one!

            Hi Rose (and welcome)!

So what about you? What rendering method (raster/hybrid/vector) are youusing?

Hi Gaius (again! we corresponded about problems with importing tables before...)
Being not very computer literate, I don't know how to check rendering method! I am just using sketchup's standard materials palette, but exporting to layout in black & white (untextured)style.

Hi Rose (and yes, I remember - no oficial answer from Google ever since about those tables... 😞 )

Well, the render methods can be found in the SketchUp Model dialog (it will only be active if the inserted model is selected)

                render.jpg
Now I wonder if your active style is not monochrome...
When you see the textured model in SU, make sure to update your current style and then make a scene. At the top of the dialog attached above, you can select this scene. If it still renders in monochrome, there may be some problems with your graphic card/driver although to be honest, I have not heard this issue related to the video subsystem.

Hello again, just revisiting this problem. Have just changed from raster to vector and it seems to have done the trick, fingers crossed that this doesn't cause some other problem but looking good for now! Many thanks Gaieus.

Also note that vector rendering will not render your image textures but colours instead. If you want sharp, vector based edges but with textures, use hybrid rendering. That's also the slowest I think however.
