Animation how to

I am creating scenes for animating a house model. I tried to animate pulling the roof
up to see inside then putting the roof back on and continuing rotating to finish animation.
The pulling the roof up and off and putting it back on didn't record.Can this be done?

Yes, you need an animation plugin...here are two that I know of
