Did this a while ago - first, and possibly last, attempt to render something that I had drawn purely for the fun of doing it. Drawn on SU with a render from a free trial of IRender. Plenty of mistakes but happy enough with the result

its looking good, i would suggest using other rendering progams. Here's a list of some of the best for SU.

        Podium, http://www.suplugins.com,

        IDX Renditioner, http://www.idx-design.com,

        Vue 6 xStream, http://www.e-onsoftware.com

        Vue 6 infinite, http://www.e-onsoftware.com

        Piranesi, http://www.piranesi.co.uk

        Artlantis, http://www.artlantis.com

        Vray for SketchUp, http://asgvis.com

        Maxwell Render, http://www.maxwellrender.com

        FryRender, http://www.fryrender.com

Hope this helps, or is of any use. 😄 😄 😄

Thanks. I appreciate the links. I did this when I was teaching myself SU and was trying to find out if rendering was something I wanted/needed to use. I will have a look at the links you have posted.

I guess the reason why I don't really render things is because what is important for my work is the walk-though aspect of SU which, I think, you cant really do it on. It is kind of fun creting cool looking things just for the sake of it though.

This one is with SU and photoshop. This is a really nice old building I was doing a landscape design for when I was studying and I got kind of distracted and put this together.

That's a nice image. It's your choice whether you continue with rendering or not. But there is a learning curve to that, too and the longer you put it off...? I am looking at Shaderlight, a system that updates the image as you change it.
However, I am concerned that this old rig may bog down more than it does already.

Looks good to me, dorfpunk. It has a certain style. Keep at it.

Try one of the "Render This' challenges.

                    Hi mitcorb

If you're worried about the interactivity of Shaderlight bogging down your hardware you can use the software's auto updates for low res pre-visualisation renders and then switch to tiled mode for your finished image. A lot of our customers are finding that this really speeds up the time it takes to get the result they're after.

                    Thanks
                    Kate

Shaderlight delivers interactive, photorealistic rendering to Google SketchUp. Download it for FREE at http://www.shaderlight.com
