I am experiencing bad levels of camera clipping in skp 8 when compared to skp 7... 😲

Does anyone else think that its worse than before?

Things are particularly bad when items are grouped or are components and I need to zoom in close or get inside a car component (for example) to project a view out... In some instances I have opened up an older v7 file which had views set up looking out from inside components and now I get clipping in v8...

Any help would be much appreciated.

Ps: I know that it helps to switch to parallel view sometimes when you need to get really close. This seems to be an issue with the perspective camera...

      Thanks in advance.

      Dave

I seem to be experiencing the same as you... 😐
My "work around" is to set the Field of View to i.e. 15 or 20, which allows me to zoom in close on objects...
But I'd like to know why SU have started acting this way since SU 8...
Please note that I always model in accurate scale (mm) and always keep my model close to the origin...

        Cheers

As i'm sure you know... setting the field of view closer to zero brings things closer to parallel so i guess that is why it works..... this doesn't help with my architectural modelling when perspective matters... field of view set from 30-60deg
I'm trying to isolate exactly when this happens as it seems to be related to components or groups somehow...

I will post a trouble file if i can get it to 'behave badly' in isolation...

In the meantime lets keep scratching our heads πŸ˜•

Yes me also. I'm working on a small residence, on a small lot, and it is clipping. Very Strange and frustrating.
Also have set the model right at the origin.
I will have to try your workaround. Thanks

I thought it was me, but now that you mention it, it does seem to happen sooner when zooming in than in v7.
But tabbing to parallel helps a lot. Thanks for the tip.

Okay... so by a process of elimination I am thinking that its file related.
Attached two pics: one from a 'problem' file... I then copied and pasted in place into a new skp file and imported the same view across and no clipping!

Incidently I have saved the problem file back to v7 and opened it up in my older version of skp and it still clips, further confirming that it is probably file related...

Now I just need to determine if its something I am doing as part of my workflow to cause the 'bug'.

Will keep trying to isolate the issue.

                Standby...
