Workflow for sketchup models to 3d Max
-
Hi guys, I have been exporting my sketchup models as 3d max files and importing them into 3d max, but am a 3d max newbie and am still learning how to texture and light properly...in sketchup I'm really fast but this is a whole other ballgame.
I'm a landscape architect, and so I'm specifically wondering about how to go about putting trees and other vegetation into the scenes. Does anyone here work with trees/vegetation and sketchup/3ds max a lot?
Do you recommend using the 3d sketchup trees and exporting them to .3ds format?
Do you have recommendations for which tree models/types would be best?Do you recommend placing trees/vegetation in the scene afterwards with photoshop instead of even bothering with this?
Thanks!
Edited to add: I am using Mental Ray to render the scenes.

You can download for free about 130 xfrog species. I would download max models and use them. http://www.xfrog.com/2011/01/130-free-xfrogplants-now-available/

You mgiht also try installing the free PLE version of VUE x-stream that integrates seamlessly with 3dsmax. Maybe that would be a good way to get great plants and atmosphere into your 3dsmax.

It is a workflow I'm currently contemplating myself...so if you try it, let me know how it goes!
