Newb cut a complex object question.

I'm new to SU, but pretty experienced with autocad 3d and I'm struggling with what would be an easy task fro me in acad. I'm betting it's easy in SU too, I'm just not getting it.
I've got a model I d/l'ed from 3Dwarehouse of a palette rack shelving. It's composed of a couple different components, I'm concerned with the blue uprights. You can find the model here:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=8975defb5a95ea622d745eb0c717dc0&prevstart=0I need to modify the height of these blue uprights to 10' rather than the 12' they currently are. In autocad I'd probably make a box that contained the 2' i want to get rid of and use the boolean subtract command. i don't have Pro so apparently that's not an option for me.
Any help or tips would be very appreciated.
Thanks

Its not too hard...
-Open the upright group for editing
-Make a square/rectangle on the ground plane just a little bigger than the cross section of the upright. You will use this square as a "knife" to cut the upright
-Group the square and center it on top of the upright, then move it down 24" (see picture below)
-Explode the square's group, then select it -> Right click -> Intersect with context
-Now you should have a seam at the correct height, just delete the square and the unwanted portion of the upright (this part worked best with hidden geometry on for me)That's it!

Worked perfect! Thanks for the help.

You're welcome...and FWIW, the solid tools in SU Pro wouldn't have helped in this case, as the upright that you are cutting isn't solid
