      Hello everybody okay?

I wonder how to import objects from max making the textures are also imported into sketchup?

Most objects in mind that the max 3ds sketchup comes as no texture, only one or the other comes with texture ... how to make everyone come with texture?

Thank you and forgive me my English, I use an online translator!

export from max as .3ds with texture coordinates and save the textures in the same folder as the .3ds file, then the textures should be used when you import the 3ds.

The trick is that when you export geometry from 3ds max into .3ds format, it usually doesn't save the material. I THINK this is because typically, it doesn't know which of the maps to apply so it just applies none (stupid imo, but that seems to be the case).

The workaround is to change the material type to Standard and just apply one map to the diffuse slot. There may be other ways, but that's the way I've found that works. (I think there's a plugin to do that if you have a lot of materials).

You might also consider using collada rather than 3ds. It's been awhile but as I recall it has the same material limitation however I think there's less/no triangulation issues. You'll need to download a 3ds max plugin though http://www.opencollada.org/download.html

Here is a FBX importer for sketchup. I didn't test it but they have a trial version

it would be nice to have FBX import/export as a standart feature in sketchup... 😒

Have used the trial recently - Simlab FBX importer works well for me, can recommend it.

If you export an object with ArchDesign or Vray materials as an FBX and import it into SU, does it maintain the textures?
