Unexpected File Format

Hello all, I'm new to SketchcUcation. I'm having a problem with a Sketchup Version 8 file & backup file that I've got alot of time into, and now cannot access. Here's the scoop:
I saved the file on my laptop.
Returned the next day to access the file and continue working on it. Upon attempting to open the file I received an "Unexpected File Format" error message.
I began to research solutions. I tried renaming the .skb and opening,and also finding an application called 'beinsync' that others claimed caused a similar malfunction.
NO LUCK.
Does anyone have any ideas!!?!?! Any help is appreciated.Corrupt File is attached.

Corrupt for me, too. I also tried to import it (by dragging it into a new SU window) and got a BugSplat. Filing it I referred to your post - hopefully someone from Google will look at the file.
How much work have you wasted? Hope it was not your PhD thesis!

Hard to say, but probably around 20-30 hours.
