Wired Magazine Sketchup Work
-
Now the magazine is out I can post my submarine I created a submarine for the print version/ipad version and website of wired magazine. Although the model is featured as a still image on the website and the print magazine if you are lucky enough to have the ipad version you can interactively rotate the model to look around it! I cant post the content of the article here but you can see some of it if you follow this link: http://www.wired.co.uk/magazine/archive/2010/12/start/low-water-mark
You can see some more on my blog when I upload some more images of it: http://liam887.wordpress.com/2011/01/05/submarine-model/
The render was rushed as I only had one night to get a full 360 render so I was never happy with the materials etc although I am still pleased with the model. I used Thea for the 360 render with basic materials and no textures.
Im going to release it when I have cleaned it up a bit and see what you guys can do with it as rendering is not my strongpoint.

If work means in my belly then yes its my obligation as a student but no right now I have no work on except doing some models and concept art for an xbox indie game studio but that is unpaid. Hopefully Wired work will resume in March. Good job really anyway im snowed under with Uni work right now wouldn't have time for anything else even if was available.

Well its a double edge sword. I took two years out so I still have 1.5 years to go. However even with a 1st I would struggle to get a job as good as this I would be in a great office working for Conde Nast getting experience and money, all the pros outweigh the cons at the moment. I have worked before and everybody has valued experience and a portfolio over a degree, Luckily I have been able to basically freeze my degree so if I wish I can pick up where I left off if I decide to go back or things dont work out as I hope.

Good luck mate I wish you the best.
-
Well good luck, I hope you land the job and things work out for you.
Don't forget the little guy on your way to the top, if ever you need to shop work out I'll make you proud. shameless plug

That offer reminds me of the Saturday Night Live skit where George Bush (Will Farrel) kept trying to endorse Sarah Palin (Tina Fey).
