While I am trying to adapt old materials to making new ones, I would like to access the same texture files as some of them have. Whereabouts are they kept? Are the texture jpgs within the material file, unable to be extracted as a jpeg for use for other things?

        Hi Biff,

The material files are here in subfolders:
        C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Materials
The file format is skm which is actually a renamed zip archive so if you rename it, you can access the materials.
You can also always right click on a material in the Material browser > In model section and "Export texture image" somewhere else. This of course does not have a batch export mode but if you export your model to dae (into a specified folder), the texture images will export with it (the same with kmz which is again just a renamed zip file or 3ds for Pro users for instance)

        Gai...

Thankyou very much Gaieus, I just went through learning the kerkythea renamed zip files, so I will remember that.
          cheers.
