      Hello sketchucations
I appreciate your forum. Its making great help.
I was wondering if it is technically possible to create a ruby script that projects visible entities (only the visible ones) on the section plane.
what i mean is for example when i cut my model for a floor plan i would like to project the outlines of my furniture etc to the section plane and create groups.

The idea behind this is to generate all my 2d requirements except hatching and dimension in SU.

      NB
i tried to export 2d dwg but the result is a messy geometry all components expoded even curves
the 3d export is nice but i need the 2d
flatten script is quite nice but it merges the bottom geometry and needs cleanup also doesn't handle big model.

but the section group when exported to cad keeps layers and components.

        Hi Gude,

I am not exactly sure what you are after (keeping or not kkeping components/layers etc) but there is a Section Cut Face plugin if you are interested:

If you set view to top view with perspective off then export 2d graphic but in the drop down menu select .dwg you can export model as a 2d cad drawing.

Don't think it will keep layers etc however.

Ah, okay. I did not clearly get that part, sorry. But then TIG's plugin is not for you (although keep it in mind as it can come handy!).

Ask around in the Plugins forum maybe then. There are already lots of useful things but as I do not use similar ones, I may just not know.
