DIY Meccano 3D scanner for OSX and Windows

I just found this totally loopy page on how to build a 3D scanner from Meccano (provided of course that you also happen to have a copy of MATLAB lying around
), so I thought I would share it with my SketchUp mates. 
The results can be exported, via MATLAB in obj or stl files.
