Text and images on curved or organic surfaces

Hi all, I have noticed images and text on curved and organic surfaces. How is this achieved. I asume that drape could be used but this would be time consuming. This would not help with raster images though. Can anyone point me in the right direction :

I have now got this sorted. I was cunfused as it is refferred to as texture. Knowing that though it is quite straightforword and simple.
