I'm trying to export a Sketchup model as a 3d model. What I want to know is, is there any format that Google Sketchup can export to, where the Sketchup model's "paint-job", textures and edges are also transeferred over to new exported format?

i.e. can a Sketchup model be exported "as is"?

Isn't the purpose of Collada to do that? If there is a problem with that, it may be the translation of the information by the importing software that changes the images.

I am a dxf advocate, but only because I am only concerned with information that is required for production drawings. For me, SU, render, and other presentation apps are sufficient to accomplish all I require for modeling and presentation.

Do you work with SU pro? If not you can not export files. I would export as obj file. It should keep any material specifications.

Yes, we have SU pro here. I've tried exporting models in .3ds and .dae, then importing in to 3ds Max and they never retain their appearance. I haven't tried .obj format yet. And if worse comes to worse, I'll try to unwrap the model and re-texture it. Can you recommend a good unwrapping plug-in made for Sketchup?
