Problem with intersect

Why did 2 of these intersect and two did not. Wall is on a slight curve. Holes were punched thru with hole ruby.
Then intersect with model. Why is su not playing by its own rules?
I just need this to work consistently. But if it doesn't I would at least would like to know why.

"Intersect with context" worked. Dont know why it worked and "intersect with mode" did not:?
