WIP Villa Jovis, Isle of Capri
-
Hi,
The massive ruins of Villa Jovis is on the steeply sloping eastern tip into the sea of Capri for centuries the interest of travelers, artists and archaeologists, pulled up and contributed substantially to the myth of the island. The villa is one of the few Roman buildings, which are frequently mentioned in ancient sources. Detail by Pliny the elder., Tacitus and Suetonius suggests that it served as the residence of the Emperor Tiberius, in which he took last year of his reign (14-37th AC) spent.
Some months ago I found some good pictures of the Villa Jovis and began with the replica. Then I had again lost interest because I do not quite progressed to and let the model rest again. That's already happened to me more often and at a fresh start everything runs smoothly.

It certainly does look nice, Charly. I'd love to see some detail and animation! Perhaps with the Google Earth imagery as background, though that sounds tedious. Probably better to do some quick and dirty terrain modeling, instead.

Hi
here, the first impressions of the model in Google Earth terrain. The background panorama do not fit to Capri, since the Italian coast is about 50 km far away. It is also not an ocean but the lake Garda. It is really difficult to find suitable panoramas for coastlines.
Who cares about it, I found a site with interesting panoramic photos.
