im modelling part of an urban landscape and rendering it from an orthographic perspective. i want the finished result to be a web based interactive 2d map. im having trouble optimizing the model for rendering. i know accuratley modelling each and every building is impossible, so ive handpicked a few. from wich i replicated components such as windows and other facade details and randomized them on other buildings. the problem im having is with textures for elements like domes. i want to fake shadows for the dome so that i dont have to do too many rander passes to achieve a desired result. how do i create textures that automatically readjust themselves to the camera angle and to the sun angle? ill post a few images later. i need to get them organized. for now can any one help with tips on optimization and the questions posed above
