Lighting

hi, is there anyway i can put spotlights, flood lights, etc in the models?
im building a video game and i would like to see the lighting effects -
The simple answer is no, you can not really do that in SketchUp exactly.
But there is much more to it than that. How are you building the game? Chances are if you are building the game in a game engine, then it will support your lights. So you would add them in the game engine.
Or if you want to add lights and render your SketchUp model inside of Sketchup and just export the finalized rendered model, then you could use a software called LightUp. But I'm not sure if that is what you want.
So again, how are you planning on making the game? how will it run? SketchUp is not a game engine, so it is rather hard to make games inside it.

Well you won't create an engine (unless you are a crazy 3d physics programmer of some sort). Chances are you will use an existing 3d engine like the CryEngine, or one from any number of games that supply their game engine.
If you are giong to make a game, I'd suggest spending time deciding what engine you will use first. Because much of how you make your models will depend on how your game engine can accept them. Some engines are VERY picky about how their models can be made. Other engines are a little nicer about it.
