Joining mesh again
-
hi
this is an old/new question
how to join meshs in sketchup to make a single one
so if i export it to blender or 3d max i have a single objectthanks and good day
-
One, single mesh of the same model or rather separate groups (maybe) by material? This latter is generally what people would want.

i want One mesh or One model or One group or One component .... etc
so if i export it to blender or 3d max i have One single object

Then simply keep exploding everything until you have no separate groups/components in the model just one, big piece of raw geometry. There is also a free Bomb plugin that will do it for you in one step.
Nevertheless any time you would like to export your stuff grouped by material, here is another plugin.

I think when you export you can also choose to export as a single object. What filetype are you exporting to?

in the free 6 version i export to kmz then extract the file to get the dae inside
i have downloaded the pro trial yesteray but i don't remember that i have seen the "export as one object option"
i am mainly interested to export to the dae format tyo use with the http://www.udk.com
ps : the models are not from me (3d warehouse)
thanks

Oh, it might not have that option built in. But it is possible to run a script called "bomb.rb" and it explodes all groups and components in the model to make it all loose geometry. You could then export it like that and see if that is what you need. Or if that is not right, you could then take all that loose geometry and turn it all into a single component. Seems like that should do the trick.
Gaieus posted a link to bomb. Use that script.
