Filming
-
Hello!
I have made a city 3D map and now i'd like to film it while ''walking''. But the problem is, that when i move every single line, from which the objects are made of, appears and details are not visible. So i have to stop, wait for a while for details to load and lines to dissapear.Any ideas, siggestions..?
Please, i need your help.Take care,

SketchUp is designed to make films by setting up scenes, and then exporting an animation. The animation will do a walkthrough from scene to scene. So to set it up, you would start walking through the model. Add a scene at the very beginning. Then walk 10 or 20 or 50 feet (approximately), then add another scene. Then walk some more and add another scene. Try to keep all scenes approximately the same distance apart. And then when you export your animation, it will make a nice walk through from scene to scene.
Or another option, if you want it to record your movements more precisely, you can use a script I made called camera recorder.

It is a little bit of a process to explian it all, but the idea is to change to a style that is very simple, so you can navigate smoothly through the model. Then navigate your walkthrough path while recording your movements. Then press stop when you are done moving. You can then change to a fully rendered style with linework and materials turned back on, and export your animation. It will export a series of images that you can put together into amovie using quicktime Pro or any number of free softwares.
It is much more complex than the first method mentioned, but it allows for a different type of animation to be exported more easily.
Hope that helps,

Thank you very much, but i have one more problem.
Why when i move the camera all the textures disappear? It is really pissing me off. -
Probably your model is too complex and SketchUp tries to keep up with real time rendering. This will result in shadows, textures (and sometimes even faces) "dropped out" while the camera is moving.

I wouldn't recommend making movies by recording the screen with a screen capture software like jing or camtasia. THose are good for tutorials and explaining things in real time, but not good for final full quality movies (as you keep finding out).
Just use scenes, or if you really want something that feels more like a handheld camera, use my plugin I mentioned above.
