Pipe diagrams to models - plug in
-
Normally I don't do much modelling - just enough to understand the basic processes - now I am working on electrical and plumbing systems.
For example, working on a ring main I join the socket outlets with edges. I discovered TIG's 2d Tools (thanks btw) and converted the edges to 20mm wide coloured faces with the line-style tool.

A problem is, in orbiting, some vertical conduits all but disappear when shown on edge. It seems such a quick way to convert a diagram into a model - to test raceways, ducts, crossings, clashes and so forth - that I wondered whether it would be possible to make a 3D tool version or even a complete diagram to model converter.
Perhaps it already exists ... but I'm afraid I could not find anything.

Try Extrusion Tools > ExtrudeEdgesByFace
Draw a small face flat on the ground - say a triangle or square.
Select the path[s] and make the 3D forms... -
Thanks very much TIG - here is a first try at the conduit - so easy.
I think it has great potential, even maybe going straight from concepts to auto-modeling ... a kind of machine made provocation - 'what's wrong with this?'
