Render this: Mad science
-
It's AL-IIIIIVE!!!
-
modo
-
Excellent renders, especially pete's.
I just did this in five min, just a clay render to understand what I have to do.
-
Gave the mouse a nuclear touch.
I promised myself I wouldn't get too much into rendering as most of my work is CAD related, but once you start it's hard to stop.
I really need a new computer. The computer I have shuts down when I try to render something in Octane (it should have a splash screen that says: Who Do You Think You're Kidding?!). This simple scene took a couple of hours in modo.
-
Threw in a few extras, to make it 'LOONEY SCIENCE'.
I really like the Tesla orb, I think I nailed it.
(no post processing)
-
The Orb looks awesome!
-
Not like I will ever use it...but out of curiosity...how the hell did you do that Tesla?! its amazing
is it just modeled emitters? with a graduated colour? fantastic
-
Well Pete, if you're going to do Looney Toons Mad Scientst stuff. . .You gotta add this guy!
Oh and Yeah, A tut on Tesla Orbs would be great. I use them in my Architectural Practice all the time!
-
The last render pete is almost perfect, some sss on the mouse and straight to galleries like 3dtotal. And some dirt, always
-
Solo,
That last rendering is pretty great. My only comment is that the desktop is so clean -- it hardly fits with a mad scientist. I would throw in some dust/cobwebs, scorch/burn marks, and/or cracks in the tiles. Make it look like he his done crazy (gone wrong) experiments in the past, not just that he collects odd desktop trinkets.
-
Well just cuz he's mad doesn't necessarily mean he isn't neat.

I originally started with dirt maps, blood stains et al, but the scene looked too gritty, like a bad video game. I prefer the clean reflections as this was more a challenge to make the orb look right than anything else.
I have added some finer details to it using paint-shop, see the mad scientist in reflection of beaker.

And then it smells like burning rubber for the rest of the day. I haven't seen smoke yet but ...

@solo:
Pete these are excellent renders. About dirt, an idea is to use a clay render, overlay a dirt texture, then combine it with the original great render you have here. Just a PP idea, eraser tool is the key. -
good idea michalis

Rummaging around a hdd and found this...
Rubbish entry, but an entry none the less
