Nice!!
That plasma ball is postpro? -
Great one Pete! Power render! Im really jealous! although the rat needs fur! only joking!
great choice of hdri
-
Great render!
I would say the plasma emitters were as difficult as the fur when realism is concern.
Nailing both would be a huge bonus. -
My first modest approach... (is a quick render with low presets in kerkythea)
I have to do something with that brain. I don't know how to texture it.
Some hints, please???
I'm still working o textures and lights, but maybe I'll keep the point of view. I guess I'll skip the plasma ball, lol. Looks hard to texture/model or whatever I have to do to render those lights. -
Okay...got fur, and lava.
-
Good start Karina, I don't like just the syringe so close to the camera (too much distorted and seems out of scale)...the rest promises very good!
Pete... no words, you're a Master! -
i was joking about the fur.....but OK!
this version looks much more refined.
so you modeled the back wall and used hdri for lighting this time? or is everything modeled? windows etc. i really cant tell these days!
-
The plasma is pretty lame still, and I really need some material re-work, but I though I'd throw my hat in the ring.

Pete,
great stuff!
I gotta know what you did for Bunsen flame, it's spot on. Was there any pp to it?
-
Hold on...
I just noticed the brain for Christ sakes....
Then I spotted the bloody text on the pages!
[Insert very long sigh]
-
LOL...I spent too much time thinking about this...
Okay regarding the flame, it's actually a clipped emitter, I will post a thea scene later with it and my new Tesla orb (will render it later) as I think I nailed it finally.
-
1.5 hrs KT. A continuation of my leaves. Probably will do another with other apps as well.
-
Oh please, please.
Any hints on how to render that lightning sphere / tesla ball / plasma ball (or whatever it is called) ?
Are those here modeled? And about the brain, Solo (great render!), in your outlined image in SU it does look as a brain, have you tweaked it to improve the realism? I'm having troubles placing a convincing texture to it...
-
Dspace, how did you managed the rat? SU fur or simply KT material? (pretty looks like velvet...)

Oh well, the distortion is on purpose, as well as the rotation of the camera. I am terrified by needles, so I tried to emphasize it, but you are right, maybe it was too much...
I moved the camera a bit and changed the angle another bit, hope it looks better nowAh, the render was already running when I noticed this square flame... , gotta fix it later for the next test.
I'm still struggling with the mats, I don't like those liquids, I have to do something with them...I know the image is still too noisy, but I was not gifted with patience anyway, as I have to change so many things I think I'll stop the render.
I'm hating the emitter in the middle of my scene, but I can't make it look dimmer without loosing the light it emits. Maybe I'll postpro this... or hide it a bit into those strange googles. -
that brain is the first one you find when you search for components...
-
Good - because I sometimes cannot find my own...
-
Karina nice little scene you got there. I like the distortion; it looks like a nightmare!

I'm re-posting the link to the CGI site that is in Pete's first post. It's really worth seeing what people are doing over there, some great treatments. This is a very challenging challenge.
