Not sure what you are using for a model, but I don't see how one could drill through this BOP. And that is the sole purpose of a BOP, to control a well, but still allow drilling though the shut-off valves and the shears.

Look to me a like a sub sea well head.

I'll go with that. I haven't been able to get anyone to tell me the difference and only got a vague description form my oilfield friends. I didn't have the picture to show them at the time.

There was also no description of the picture (seriously) when I downloaded it.

        Well head? Works for me!

I looked at my post, forgot to tell you I liked the model. You have done a good job.

I do a lot of modeling for offshore companies.

You can get rid of the lines, by using the eraser and the control key to hide the lines.

You can go to this web site and watch as an ROV cuts the riser off the BOP.

Render? Hmm. No, I hadn't thought about it. I'll probably continue to improve my modeling skills before I start rendering things. I want to work in this field (3D modeling) and I feel I need to be as versatile and efficient as possible before I say "sure, I can do that." So my plan is to first master modeling, then rendering. That way, I'll have a bunch of stuff to render, right? πŸ˜‰
