I had this wish for long time and I think the first three tools are nothing new as many have already requested better texture tools inside Sketchup.

It would be a dream if we could adjust the texture position for several faces at once instead clicking in that cascaded context menu for each face.

Unfortunately I don't know much about Ruby, but I think this one could be done by adding a value to all texture coordinates.

      scale.gif

Current work arounds: Edit the texture image in a image editor. For Scaling: edit the scale in the material browser, but then you don't have control about the center of scale. Both methods are global for all faces with that material in Sketchup.

If we can modify the texture deformation of one face and this tool would automatically keep the neighbouring faces aligned, that would open a world of new possibilities...

My dream would be something similar like the smoove tool, for deforming the texture on multiple faces with the strength depending on the distance from the cursor.

Instead of the complex way of unfolding and unwrapping and refolding etc, there would be a new work flow for applying a texture to organic shapes:

      • use spherical/cylindrical/cubic projection
      • move it around until it fits perfectly
I think this kind of intuitivity is what makes Sketchup.

I have some ideas for texture tools. A couple of rough prototypes. Will see how they develop.

          Yes, that would be great.

That is one of my most important dreams!

I'm always in trouble with texturing meshes
