World Cup!
-
Solo,
Your dutch mum should be proud on you, not on mine english
Here in Europe we think that Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Spain are the teams who will play the semi finals.
-
Haha, Google "World Cup"...
-
I'm interested to know from other Americans if they are also noticing a huge world cup interest in their parts of the country, I have been here for three world cups and this is by far the most popular and watched one so far, even games like yesterdays Germany vs Australia had pubs full in Dallas and this is significant being a Sunday (remember we are the southern tip of the bible belt)
-
-
Pete, there doesn't seem to be much interest up here...the only person I heard talking about it was an African national.
Here is an article from Popular Science about how to use software to filter out the nasty horn sound
-
Oooh!!
Paraguay's keeper let them down, but they did well to hold the world champions to a draw.
Almost an upset. So now it's Spain, Brazil and Portugal to look forward to.
-
half crucial time for Italy,
Paraguay rocks
Italy to improve
Paraguay to step forward ¡

The swis leave the european championship 2008 without any goal against them. So they are good defenders.
Spain had normal attackers, so my predict for this game is 0-0 -
Spain-Suiza
bet for a draw
if we are lucky maybe 3-0
Brazil-North Corea : bet for a draw
if lucky Corea wins )
Portugal-Costa de Marfil : bet for a draw
if lucky Coast Marfil wins :: -
I enjoyed seeing the samba footballers ..... some moments of stylish footwork ... even closeup camera shots
Seemingly the BBC has complained about those bloody horn blowers.....
BBC3 issues apology for constant droning noise during it’s Confeds Cup coverage
.... and the South African guys could care less. They might change their minds when the viewing numbers drop and the revenue!

No disrespect to the Aussies but the German team were very impressive tonight and the result wasn't that surprising..and yes those horns (Vuvuzela) are doing my head in too!
Chiming in a little late here I know but we didn't expect much either. The commentators here were trying to be as optimistic as possible.... and yes, the coach is in a bit of hot water over poor decisions!!!
Anyway, Germany were red hot.
Brazil were a little tender although that first goal was freakish!!!
Will be good to see Spain tonight. [games here in OZ start at 9.30am, then 12.00am then 4.30am so I feel like an owl right now......

WTF!!!
Here is the upset of the WC.
Who would ever have imagined this upset.
Switzerland 1: Spain 0.
All Spain, yet Switzerland held on well, fantastic defense.
-
Next game is South Africa vs Uruguay, my prediction Uruguay will win by 2, but hope for a South African win, regardless how unlikely it may be on paper.
-
Ah crap, what a disaster for RSA.
Looks like history is in the making, only host team not to progress to second round.
unless you believe in miracles...which I don't.
-
Switzerland doesn't suprise me, because the last tournament they leave without any goals against, also they didn't score. But now they have some good strikers like N'Kufo from the dutch champion Twente.
Otherside the Spain team is like the Netherlands, they have good players but it is not always a team who playes together. Yesterday they played like a dog without a tail.My predict is that when they not play in a 4-4-2 system they also loose from Chili and not going further in this tournament.

The whole of Ireland will be hoping that SA beat the French!!!
There is a TV show in the UK at the minute and they have a wall panel with actual people representing the participating teams sitting in it. On the first night they removed the French team and put Ireland in their place as they feel that the French cheated the Irish out of it with the Thierry Henri hand ball saga. It is very funny to see as it gets the biggest cheer of the show when they mention the Irish!
I hope you stay in as it is important to maintain local support at matches. Superbly organised competition so far. South Africans should be very proud as there were alot of doubts as to whether they could pull it off!

If you can't beat them, join them
-
France 0 - Mexico 2 It looks like the first scorer was off side possibly but good result and an entertaining match. It was nice the see the green shirts beating the French. It looks like France can start packing their bags. What goes around, comes around

Spain
my opinion
Our goalkeeper, CASILLAS, is not in good mood now. His girlfriend is working as a TV Sport journalist and each one of them are being seen at the same game. I am sure he does not feel confortable and Casilla´s concern affects all of us.
My care is whether our coach manager, Vicente del Bosque, will be brave enough to substitute him and make the enter of REINA, or VALDES, our second and third goalkeepers, which I truly believe, must be our new goalkeeper from now on, in this championship.get sure that if he does it, we will win the Cup
but if he does not, get sure enough, that we will pain desperately, I am afraid, without any reward.
no other way
now it is too late to take the girl out
I am glad The Times shares my view
we seem to have the best building but the players inside the building seem to look for the ball
