Photo-textures to squared quatrefoil shaped building
-
Hello!
Me again!
Just wondering if anyone can tell me how would be the best way to photo-texture a building that is quatrefoil in shaped?
The building in question is an old Norman tower in my home city. I have plenty of photos of it (and there's dozens on the web) but projecting a flat image around one part of the wall just doesn't seem to work. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but a nudge in the right direction would be much appreciated.

If not projecting, maybe wrapping it around? http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=21762

Yea wrapping would be the way although it is obviously not a very easy thing to take those photos nicely. Best would be a NOT very sunny but a bit overcast day so that there are no sharp shadows and take a whole bunch of "slices" of each apse then putting them together for the least possible distortion.
Here is a barbikan of the castle here; I have been building strategies for shooting it for a while now...

Many thanks for the input, as always, I really appreciate it.

There is another way, if you do not have the time or patience to learn a UV mapping app you can use Bonsai 3D, simply export the building into Bonsai and use it's texture mapping tool to map the texture correctly, export it back to SU.

I guess the very problem here is how to take those photos to create the correct texture in the first place.
