Simple Plugin Request - measuremeter

hello,

i have a device "disto d8" it's a measuremeter by laser.

the device have the ability to send by BLUETOOTH the measure to the computer as keystrokes from the keyboard.

i want the draw a sketch and after that to change the length of the edges of it to the real measures by using the device one by one (without going into the edge properties and change the value)

please help me.

these are the steps that i think are needed

select the object
loop throw the edges one by one
input from the keyboard the measure and ENTER/TAB for end
change the edge to the length that input

If I understand, you implying that the edges are not connected to other geometry? If they were connected, you could not change their length in the Entity Info dialog. Is that correct?

It is possible to modify the lengths of edges, but doing them one-by-one will "fracture" the connected geometry.

Wait, it sounds like all the 3d data is there, so it may be possible to automate the entire process.

What data is available to send to SketchUp?

He has a laser measurement device that will send the length it measures as keystrokes to the computer. So when he measures, say 5000mm, it will send the keys 5, 0, 0, 0 - like he was typing it himself.

From what I understand, he want to be able to select some edges and iterate them one by one, where for each edge it expects an input from the VCB and then adjust the length of the edge accordingly before proceeding to the next.

1st - running tool
2nd - select edge
3rd - modify length
