Passive Solar Renders
-
First time post, though I stop in daily for the plugin updates and hopefully news of the next version of SketchUP. Is it ever gonna' happen? Anyway, I've recently moved to Phoenix, AZ and am quite inspired by the Southwest and Spanish Mission Styles enough to start an Architectural design and planners blog http://www.consketchual.com. Thought I would share a few NPR's to review. Please don't ask for tutorials because an upcoming article will address the design workflow that I like to use. I am there to learn as well and would love contributors from the professions listed in the sub-heading.
Thanks, Rob Small

I really like this style!
Maybe they are a bit dark, but that might be personal taste...

nice textering, rendering and post pro, a bit too yellow and dark for my taste

Understand that these are accurate for the late evening (kelvin 2200; yellow glow) Southwestern light. Contrast is what evokes strong emotion in this type of environment, the eyes are drawn to the center of focus. Photo-realistic rendering is only a means to an end and not the consummation of a conceptual design project. Too many renderings don't account for these "golden hour" moments, as it's referred to in the photography field.
