Large files

I have a file that seems to get larger whenever I save it. It's at 9.9 MB now. If I select everything and copy and paste to a new file it's only 80 kb! I had to recreate 2 scenes, which was a bit of a pain. If it was a more complicated file it really would have been a lot of work. How do I get the file size down?

Did you purge a model of unused textures and components? ( Window > Model Info > Statistics > Purge Unused )?
