      Hi Everyone,
First of all, I would like to say thanks to all the people who created all those amazing plug-ins. They totally changed my mind about sketchup.
However, I am still wondering does anyone know any plugin made for importing 3d max file to sketchup? I know I can export the model as 3ds. from 3d Max but all the surfaces are triangular and broken.I am sending whole day to clean up the model in sketchup... Is there anyway or any plug in to import max. file into sketchup and all the models still work as a group?

      PLEASE HELP !!!!

      Rico

There's no .max importer for SU as far I know.
Have you tried exporting to collada instead?

But I made a plugin to assist in cleaning up .3ds files: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=22920&p=193587

Not sure if it works other way around... 3dmax back to sketchup. I can check when I bootcamp over to windows later. But connection extension eliminates the need to export as a obj and all those hours spent cleaning a model in max.

not sure other way around is an option. I can check when I bootcamp over to windows later. But as for the comment cleaning up 3ds files this would eliminate it because it imports sketchup like a dream.

The plugin was for cleaning up 3ds files imported to Sketchup - not .3ds imported to Max.

.dwg export out of max will work, but can result in some missing faces. .3ds export out of Max also works well with SU Pro and is easily cleaned with ThomThom's cleanup script. The cleanest results for me have been with using the .obj format out of max and into sketchup. I usually use the Bryce preset and just uncheck the "flip yz" button. Then use the .obj importer plugin - http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=20584&hilit=plugin Obviously poly count is something to be aware of.

There was a great 3ds max plugin from Simlab soft called Simlab max to skp exporter that was great for even complex models with excellent results but they took it down for whatever reason. Perhaps contacting the author at Simlab would be helpful
