Create Your Architectural Model!
-
Hi Guys,
iMaterialise has produced a SketchUp plugin to make the job of producing a solid Architectural or other model available here http://i.materialise.com/Tool/CreateYourArchitecturalModel
At €359 per model it looks to be good value as a solid model can often 'sell' an idea to the client. I am wondering if the VAT element of the price would be at zero for orders outside of the EU? I will check this out and get back on it.

Rapid prototyping with colored materials. At 359 Euros a shot it might be a little pricey. How much would doing it the old fashioned way cost? (foam boards, etc...)

I suppose it depends on time and material costs. While making solid models can be fun, they are time consuming. I image it would be a matter of passing on the cost to the client if they wanted a solid model.
There is another consideration that comes to mind! I wonder would there be a reduction in cost for a second identical model. In the past I came across a number occasions where a couple of models were required by clients,

as an alternative you can always make a good old paper model from your skippie using either pepakura (win) or waybe (mac).

Yep, that could be done Edson but as they say 'Time is Money'. If a person has lot of time to spare but no money then the handmade route is great but if a person is busy and making money then automation is the answer.
