Sorry about my last post. I didn't payed attention about how the doors will work, my mistake. So, forget about my recommendation, I'm feeling kind of dumb right now. Apologies! 😳

No need for apologies Stefanq. I really appreciate your comments and suggestions.

I've found a little time to progress the Corner Cubby a little further. It's just a PDF outlining the idea and including the optional L Shelves that were suggested.

I like it! Is this a real project? Is there space for you to sit in it when the door is closed?

No. The idea is to use the folding doors as a privscy screen while working.

Oh. Is it just a concept, or are you going to make it real?

Just the reaction to the name I was looking for Rocky πŸ˜‰ The name is suppose to be a 'fun' name for a Corner / Cupboard / Office which I hope it will turns out to be. Internet connection should be no problem at all provide the user has a service πŸ‘

But on a slightly more serious note, can you think of other things that might be incorporated OR the unit might transform into?

GF, Yes its a real project. I will be putting it together soon as I need one.

Neat. I like the satisfaction of design-to-real-life. I've designed several projects in SU and made 'em in real life.

I've had a little more time to progress the Corner Cubby. The frame members have been reduced to ex 75 x 19 and look better / lighter I think.

I have also eliminated the infill panel (white hardboard) on the two back panels. This raised a problem of pens etc rolling off the desktop and shelves. I am getting around this by fitting a 12mm lip to the rear of the desktop and shelves. Once I had this done I extended the lip 12mm below the surfaces also as this allowed to possible fixing space and reversing the desktop and shelves.

In the area of fabrication we will be using tongues and 'gorilla glue'. I have located the door hinges but can't find a suitable glider for the lead folding door. What I need is a fitting that fits under the leading edge (approx. 19mm - 3/4") and allows the door to glide on the floor surface. I have found a few possibilities but nothing that is ideal. On option would be Automatic Leveling Glides http://www.superior-components.com/automatic_leveling_glides.htm The ideal solution (I think) would be a side mounted spring loaded plastic ball roller! Any suggestions on if or where this might be obtained would be most welcome.

We have decided to make the framing in beech and am now starting on the cutting list.

To be honest, I have hardly an idea where you might find it, but, have you tried McMaster-Carr?

Really taking shape there, I'm liking it!

Rocky, wait until you see the finished piece. You mention fur! Yep, that can be done πŸ˜„ All joking aside, it is possible to use whatever infill fabric the owner wants in the side and door panels. The idea behind this is the keep weight / cost down and offer the possibility to coordinate with the room's colour scheme πŸ‘

I visited a local timer merchants today with my friend Val and we hand selected 4 cubes of European Cherry. I think we got a good deal a €120. At least the production process has started πŸ˜„

I will post a few pics of the cutting and planing, seeing as there are a few following this topic.
