    Hello,

I am having problems exporting my SU models to Kerkythea. Once the SU2KT does its magic and asks me if I want to open the export in the KT, I get the KT splash screen and then an empty KT modeling field. I have been trying to import my complex model and it would never work. Then I tried just a simple cube with a lightsource and it worked the first time I tried it -- model loaded into KT and I was able to render it. After closing that simple model and trying the simple model import again, there was no import, just a KT splash screen followed by a blank KT screen as described above. Trying the complex model a few more times did not open it. Restarting did not help.

I am running Vista, SU Pro 7.1.6860, KT Echo 2008, and SU2KT 3.15. I believe these are all the latest versions. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Stab in the dark, did you purge your model?

        HD,

I purged the model as you suggested, but still no luck. Same symptoms -- KT loads without the model. Thank you for the idea!

I have had a similar problem on my old laptop. Exactly as you have described. On one model I took exported it as a clay model, and the export worked. The materials did not export, (and you'll get a warning of this) but the list of materials did show, so I was able to add the materials in Kerkythea. Saved my butt so to speak on this one (deadline). This has happened both on a very large model, and a very small one. I tried purging, exploding, but this is the only thing that worked. I am on a mac, but I notice you are on a PC, so OS doesn't seem to matter.

            Dale,

I tried importing as clay as you suggested, but still no luck. I am going to reinstall KT and see if that does the trick... clearly a software issue. But it may be the user as well... any more feedback would be appreciated. Thank you!

try installing it to a folder outside of Program Files. I have a feeling that may fix it.

Khai can you elaborate a little ? I'm interested in why this would work.

UAC in Vista and Windows 7 is designed to stop data being written on the fly to Program Files as a security measure. I'm not sure whats written to the Kerky folder when you render out from SU, but like you, it wasn't working.

I'd seen the problem with Poser and UAC, which I solved by just not installing poser in the program files folder to start with.. doing this with KT solved my problems and I was able to render.

but that's just here on 1 machine, hence my guarded 'have a feeling'... I've not tested it elsewhere as yet...

Hmm, thanks that's interesting. I wonder if it also applies to macs. I'll have to look into it.

                      PROBLEM SOLVED

                      Khai,

Actually I had both KT and SU installed in non-native directories. Since nothing that was suggested worked, I reinstalled KT INTO the default directory, reinstalled the SU plug in (it asked me where the new KT installation was) and I tried rendering once again.

The export process in SU would start and finish without any messages. KT wouldn't start automatically or load the export. BUT when I open KT manually and open the created xml file, the export would load and would render as expected, using all the light sources specified in SU. In contrast, prior to this fix, the manually opened xml files were just blanks.

I suspect the solution was the reinstallation of KT. Not sure if the default directory helped. Either way, thanks to all for helping out!
