Autofill not autofilling?
-
Hello, I'm new to sketchup and I'm messing around in it by trying to recreate some local buildings that had PDF floorplans available online. It has certainly been a learning experience!
I have one issue now though, I've closed a 2d shape but it's not being autofilled as shapes are usually. I suppose this means that there's an area where two lines don't quite meet. How can I go about finding that area easily?
here's a jpeg to give you an idea. thank!

edit: actually got it sorted, just made a bunch more shapes then cut away the extra lines!

Todd Burch has written to great scripts for this. The first one is Make Faces:
http://www.smustard.com/script/MakeFaces
It looks at lines and goes through and tried to makes faces anywhere it can. Then if there are places that it can not make a face for, I run Stray Lines:
http://www.smustard.com/script/StrayLines
That goes through your model and marks each line that does not terminate into another line - an unclosed line which will not make a face. So by finding all stray lines, it easy to go through and fix them by hand. Then once all lines are closed, run make faces again. I normally will jsut run stray lines first thing, since floorplans often have stray lines that need fixing.
Hope that helps,
Chris
EDIT: Oh and I meant to say that once I've done all that, if theree are still faces that do not close, I then go through and divide the area into smaller areas until all faces are made.

thanks, that's what I did, used the rectangle tool making smalle rand smaller shapes until the face was complete, then just removed excess lines. the other tools will come in handy when i make things that are more complicated, thanks!
