Select "Grow" or "More"?
-
I could swear I saw this or had a plugin that "grew" a selection, sort of like in Blender or 3DS. Pressing "+" would increase the selected area by connected surfaces.
Is there a function or plugin that will do this? I installed Win 7 and SU, cleaned out my plugins and can't seem to find that function anywhere - though I thought I had it.

Check ThomThom's Selection Toys, maybe or Fredo's Hoverselect, maybe? I do not recall any other.

Selection Toys doesn't do that. But I have it on my todo list.

Hi Escapeartist,
do you mean grow.rb? Have a look here:

No, that's more like a scaled array but thanks for referencing that. I'm looking for strictly a selection tool that will "grow" the selection; i.e. if you select one face on a cube and press a key it will select the connected 4 sides + the one you selected first, press the key again and all 6 sides are selected.
I thought there was already something like that available, I must be getting old.

Sketchup has something like that built in. Perhaps you had assigned it a shortcut key?
-
It really would be a nice option for Hoverselect, but I think he is busy elsewhere.
And Chris, perhaps you could elaborate on your reply or point me to what you mean?

as I repeatedly use wings3d, and it has a similar option, I had assigned "+" key for that, in sketch up to "select connected faces" that is a built-in right-click menu option

Oh, man. I couldn't see the forest for the trees. There is such thing as too many plugins. Thanks Majid, I'd used a hotkey so long I forgot completely where/what it was in the menus after re-installation.
Palm, meet forehead...
