How would you modelling this... Photomatch? [TUTORIAL]
-
Hi guys,
A mate of mine wants to know if i can model this chair for him.
As you can see i have started it but because there is so many curves and the fact that I don't know the sizes is stumping me....Should I continue with PhotoMatch and try and scale it once it's close?
Would you draw curves with simple arcs then weld together or try Bezier curves...?Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Andrew,
I looked at your WIP and it looks to me that you are 80% there. The attached pic does show the construction of the overall lazy chair which is great.
I think its a matter of 'cobbling' the whole thing together via PM and straight SU work. You will have to approximate the overall size, probably based on typical timber thickness that would be used to this type of chair, 3/4" (I imagine) and the use of standard widths, in this case I again imagine 24".
The interesting features to replicate are the joints and dowels used, very interesting indeed. I think you should also use edited wood texture from the pictures for the finished SU model.
Not much help I am afraid.

Thanks guys.
Dedmin, can you elaborate a little on how you modeled it? Looks like a nice copy.....Mike, that's pretty much how I was going to attack it and scale it to suit a typical furniture grade size as well as some simple anthro measurements....
Thanks for the comments, will post progress....

First, decide on the build dimensions and then paste the picture and scale it to fit to this dimensions. Trace over using Catmull spline toll, push-pull, make components.
