Walk Through Walls Bug?
-
Hi,
I wasn't able to find a forum entry for this bug although I have a feeling its pretty common...
I seem to have lost collision detection on my faces and when zooming/rotating I go straight through walls, and also cannot zoom in adequately to close details due to this. I have a fairly large file that I am going make a rolling animation from and this will no doubt impact badly upon this too. Is there a known fix or work around for this?
I'm on Sketchup basic v7 on a Mac.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can save me!
Matt

Hi Matt,
Collision detection only works when you are using the Walk tool
When modelling (or using other navigation tools), there is no collision detection.

sorry, bad description on my part -
...it's more like: when modeling, I have permanent section just in front of the camera - and instead of being able to zoom in on a face in detail I instantly go straight through it as I approach. In turn, when I animate, it leaves many external walls partially cut through exposing the insides as the camera negotiates the scenes. I can load other non-affected files so the bug seems to be restricted to a specific saved file.
Cheers,
Matt -
Okay, I got it. It's the so called clipping bug. See if any of the solutions there would work and especially the ones regarding extensive geometry, faraway model from the origin or faraway stray lines if you have any CAD import in your file. Otherwise fixing the camera field of view should help.

Thanks for the speedy response Gaieus, I shall give that a go
