You guys are in BIG trouble! After all of the help you have given and thanks to your scripts, tutorials, and links to resources, I've become an SU geek and my wife is now an SU widow...and she blames all of YOU! 🀣

Thanks to everyone, I'm having a blast modeling and I have had many A-HA! moments in the last couple of days where I finally GET IT! I can't believe how watching people model furniture, houses, cars, buildings and a myriad of other things has helped me so much in modeling my toy trucks and planes and who knows what else in the future. I've got lots and lots to learn, but I feel like I'm over that initial hump at the beginning when you fire up SU and then say "Now what?"

I'm in the dog house, but hey, it could be worse...it could be -37Β°C outside! Oh, wait, it IS! Ah, who cares? I'm having fun and that's all that matters.

Cheers to you all, and a prosperous New Decade to all!
      Craig.

πŸ˜† Craig, we should really put a warning about this potential situation arising in the Terms of Use as it happens so often and to make it worse the addict doesn't care in the slightest. Ahhh! but I can assure you that deep down the 'other halves' don't really mind that much as they know where you are and what you are doing πŸ˜‰

I wonder if it might be possible to arrange some sort of insurance against this addiction?

Happy New Year to you also.

        Mike

Ah, that's the beauty of a wireless house. I have the laptop set up in the living room to work. When my wife wants to talk about stuff, I keep on working, politely nodding my head like I am listening (I am, well half the time). I do keep a little notebook open to jot the important things I'm supposed to remember. Then when I'm done for the day, I'll check off the 'honey-doos' and I'm not in the dog house! πŸ˜†

If I could find a job that I could just do SU, I would think I have died and gone to CAD/modeling heaven. It's almost too fun even when I'm designing and doing tedius work. πŸ‘ 2010 will be the year I start playing with the rendering side.

          Rick

Welcome to the dog house club Craig.

Two things that help - Mike mentions an important one,
another, that I found, is you need to search for something that your wife likes, holds dear, is active in etc. and see how you can use sketchup to make something she can personally use or appreciate. Works for me. Fortunatly, my spouse,(a registered nurse), has been infected with my love of architecture, photography and historic restoration. I get to use the GSU on community projects that she is also part of. Case closed. Tolerance well established!

Best wishes for a great 2010

            Jim

I believe wife could also be described as a Sketchup widdow. I too have become a Sketchup Geek. Worse yet, my employers are aware of it. Needless to say I am modeling 24/7. Maybe we should start a support group for wives stuck in this difficult position.

Just let me know guys when and we can introduce a new subforum somewhere. If they are registered here, they will at least also see and know what you are up to.

Maybe there is a way of avoiding this problem altogether...I wonder if marrying software is legal in some fringe states. πŸ˜„
Now, that would give a different meaning to the push/pull tool. πŸ˜†
